Experiences from the Second Funding Period

Research Data Management (RDM) is a crucial component of any Collaborative Research Centre (CRC). It facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration, promotes good research practice and supports reproducibility, and adherence to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) (Wilkinson et al., 2016).

This article presents the RDM approach of the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR219 “Mechanisms of Cardiovascular Complications in Chronic Kidney Disease.” It outlines measures such as data management plans (DMPs), storage and archiving in Coscine, electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), and internal guidelines. It also discusses challenges and resulting workflows. The experience of SFB/TRR219 demonstrates how RDM can be effectively integrated into an ongoing consortium and provides a model that can be adapted and reused in similar collaborative research settings.
